Today I was essentially confined to my apartment due to the “wintry mix” attacking Atlanta. The city strongly discouraged people from leaving their homes, and fortunately our apartment has power. With this abundance of free time and no where to go – I read “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother”- which Carolyn Straughan recently recommended to me. Author Amy Chua wrote about her own story as a “Chinese mother” and compared Chinese parenting to Western parenting. She was very honest and open about how she raised her two daughters and about her beliefs and fears about being a good parent. She has a unique perspective, and it was interesting to read. A good recommendation!
